About Alloa Tower
For centuries Alloa Tower, in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, was home to the Erskine family, who later became the Earls of Mar. It was built early in the 14th century, and few Scottish tower houses are as old or as large. Its walls are immensely thick, and the timber roof and battlements are the originals. It was made a scheduled monument in 1960, is Category A listed and today belongs to the National Trust for Scotland.
