Poznań is the capital of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in west-central Poland, and a Hanseatic city on the Warta. The former Poznań Town Hall, the residence of the municipal authorities until 1945, is a listed monument, as are the Archcathedral Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul, the Fara collegiate church, the Imperial Castle and Poznań Fortress. The National Museum is an art museum, and Lake Malta is an artificial lake in the city.
