Burgos, founded in 884, is a municipality in Castile and Leon, Spain, in the Province of Burgos, on the Arlanzón River. Burgos Cathedral is a World Heritage Site. The Castle of Burgos, the Arco de Santa María, a triumphal arch and city gate, the church of San Nicolás de Bari and the Casa del Cordón are listed monuments, and Burgos also has a statue of El Cid and the Museum of Human Evolution.
